Matatiele Local Municipality and Department of Small Business Development Support Informal Traders

Matatiele Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), hosted an information and support workshop aimed at assisting informal traders and micro-enterprises within Matatiele. The workshop was held at the Council Chambers, Maggie Tsiu-Resha Building, with local traders and entrepreneurs attending the session.
In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Patrick Stuurman reaffirmed the Municipality’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs.
“As a Municipality, we are making every effort, together with our partners, to ensure that our local entrepreneurs receive the support and opportunities they need to grow and contribute to our local economy,” said Mayor Stuurman.
The workshop provided an important platform for local informal traders to access information and guidance on available business support opportunities, as well as ways to strengthen and grow their businesses.
As part of the support programme, the Department of Small Business Development highlighted that 50 beneficiaries will be supported with machines and equipment to assist them in improving and expanding their businesses.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for local entrepreneurs to grow, become sustainable and contribute to the local economy.

Matatiele Local Municipality and the Department of Small Business Development remain committed to strengthening support for small and emerging businesses and ensuring that local entrepreneurs have access to relevant information, resources and opportunities.
