MATATIELE CONTESTANTS COMMITTED TO FREE AND FAIR LGE 2026
Contesting political parties and independent candidates in Matatiele have signed the Code of Conduct ahead of the Local Government Elections, following a Political Liaison Committee (PLC) meeting held at the Maggie Tsiu-Resha Building.
Chaired by District Manager Mr Arnold Mbaligontsi, the session focused on PLC administration, the presentation and signing of ballot specimens, and preparations for free and fair elections.
Representatives of the contesting political parties reviewed and signed the ballot specimens as part of the IEC’s preparations for the upcoming elections, acknowledging their display.
In addition, representatives collected candidates’ certificates of recognition, which authorise them to conduct monitoring activities on Election Day.
The IEC has announced that 14 political parties will contest the Local Government Elections scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
Municipal Manager Adv. Mothusi Lepheana, Police Station Commander Ken Mdluli and other key stakeholders also participated in the session.
